Traders at John Howard Market have repeated calls on the need to construct a modern market in that area.
The traders have complained to a Komboni Radio News crew that rushed to the scene that the current shelter in not habitable a situation that has forced residents to conduct their businesses outside the market.
The traders further complained that some people have even started to use the empty stands in the dilapidated market shelter to answer the call of nature another situation they fear may result in the outbreak of waterborne diseases.
The traders have since pleaded with their area councilor and Member of Parliament to facilitate the quick construction of a modern market structure.
And when contacted for a comment, John Howard councilor Kafula Mutale attributed the delay to start rebuilding the current structure into a modern one to a contractor who has abandoned works.
The civic leader has since called for patience from traders as the local authority is trying to engage a new contractor to construct a modern market in John Howard compound.
