JOHN HOWARD COUNCILOR COUNSELS PRIVATE SECTOR

John Howard Ward 3 Councillor Kafula Mutale says private companies in Chawama Constituency can provide employment opportunities for young people in the area.

Mr. Mutale says the private sector can help steer and spur economic activities in Chawama by employing youths that do not have jobs.

Mr. Mutale says the private sector is a vehicle that can accelerate national development.

The civic leader was speaking during the graduation ceremony of 47 women who had successfully completed their two- year course in various skills at Holy Family Home Craft Centre.

Mr. Mutale noted that the Home craft Centre is providing and supplementing government’s efforts in training women and young people in tailoring, sewing, baking, cookery, knitting and designing, embroidery, bricklaying, carpentry, family hygiene and good morals among others skills.

He further called on private firms in his area to consider empowering women and young people with jobs as government grabbles with high unemployment levels in the country.

The civic leader said government alone cannot manage to cater for the jobless youths in a bid to fight poverty and improve their standard of life.
