Authorities in Central Province are considering changing the name of an area along the Great North Road in Chibombo district called “John Chinena”.
Chibombo Council chairman James Ntalasha has disclosed the development to Komboni radio news.
Mr Ntalasha explains that authorities want to change the seemingly controversial name to something that everyone would be comfortable mentioning.
He disclosed that some stakeholders have proposed that the name be changed from John CHINENA to John CENA but was quick to state that authorities are still consulting members of the community.
The Chibombo Council Chairman however says the proposed name of JOHN CENA has been received with mixed reactions by members of the community.
Mr Ntalasha says authorities in central province want to change the name as it means something else in some local languages.
