The Ministry of Health says the Indoor Residue Spray is still ongoing throughout the country in an effort to reduce the spread of malaria.
And Ministry of Health spokesperson Dr Kennedy Malama has told Komboni Radio news in an interview that government is committed to ensuring that it achieves its target of eliminating malaria by the year 2020.
Dr Malama has since advised members of the public especially expectant mothers who want their houses sprayed to go to the nearest clinic or the ministry of health district offices in their localities.
Meanwhile, Dr Malama says malaria has drastically reduced in Southern province adding that the ministry of health is hopeful that the total elimination of the disease will start there.
He also cited Muchinga, Eastern, North Western and Northern provinces as some of the areas where the prevalence of malaria is still high.
Dr Malama was responding to concerns raised by Lusaka residents on the need for the ministry of health to commence the Indoor Residue Spray following the increase in the population of Mosquitoes.
