The Health Profession Council of Zambia has recommended for the closure of the labour ward at Kasama Urban Clinic.
The recommendation comes in the wake of complaints from members of the public that the labour ward is too close to the road hence infringing the rights of expectant mothers.
The Health Profession Council of Zambia said the labor ward is not conducive due to its proximity to the road.
This came to light when Kasama District Commissioner, Kelly Kashiwa visited the institution.
Kasama General Hospital Medical Superintendent, Humphrey Chanda has since appealed to Kasama District Commissioner Kelly Kashiwa to intervene in the matter.
