HOLDING CELLS AT MTENDERE POLICE CLOSED DUE TO POOR SANITARY CONDITIONS

BY OSCAR NKHUWA
The poor sanitary condition at Mtendere police post has forced authorities there to close the holding cells.
Mtendere ward 30 councilor Watson Mtonga who disclosed the development to Komboni radio news says police officers are now forced to take suspects to Kalikiliki police station a situation he said is proving to be very costly due to lack of an official vehicle at Mtendere Police Post.
Mr Mtonga says he has since engaged Munali Member of Parliament Professor Nkandu Luo on the extension of Mtendere Police post and on the need to procure an official vehicle for the police in order to improve service delivery.
And the civic leader has also appealed to Home affairs minister Steven Kampyongo to move in and address the serious sanitary concerns at the police station and help reinforce the police personnel in the area.
