HEAVY RAINS LEAVE TRAIL OF DESTRUCTION IN GEORGE COMPOUND

Some families in Lusaka’s George Compound are spending nights in the cold after their houses collapsed following the heavy rains that were experienced on Saturday night.
Lima ward councilor Francis Bwalya who confirmed the destruction to Komboni radio news disclosed that about 85 houses have collapsed.
Mr. Bwalya also disclosed that the affected families also had the household goods looted by thieves who took advantage of this situation.
The civic leader has since appealed to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit-DMMU to swiftly come to the aid of the affected families.
Lusaka experienced a heavy down pour over the weekend which caused floods and left a trail of destruction to property.
