Government says it will soon amend the land agency Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with local authorities in the country.
Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Jean Kapata says government has noted the need to close the loopholes that allow councilors and other council officials engage in illegal land allocation.
Ms. Kapata adds that her ministry will therefore ensure that it comes up with proper guidelines that will compel the council to adhere to the legal provisions that govern land administration in the country.
In an interview with Komboni Radio News, the minister observed that failure to come up with proper systems in place to promote transparency in land administration may result in serious land wrangles in the country.
