GOVT TO ADDRESS CONCERNS BY PIRATE TAXI DRIVERS ON RTSA’S DECISION TO BAN PIRATE TAXIS

BY MONDE PHIRI

Government says it is currently studying concerns that have been raised by pirate taxi drivers regarding the registration of their vehicles.

Minister of Transport and Communications Brian Mushimba says his office is also trying to establish the factors that have led to an increase in the number of pirate taxis.

Mr Mushanga has told komboni radio news that government is also alive to the fact that registration of taxis is a legal requirement which should be followed.

He has however hinted that the government is trying to come up with a permanent solution that will serve the interest of all concerned stakeholders while ensuring that the law is respected.

Recently, pirate taxi drivers objected the directive by the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) to have their vehicle registered saying the process was too expensive for them.
