GOVERNMENT URGED TO EXPIDITE THE ADOPTION OF THE NATIONAL ALCOHOL POLICY

The Southern African Alcohol Policy Association (SAAPA) has called on the government to expedite the adoption of the national alcohol policy.

SAAPA communications officer Jonas Ngulube is concerned that the government seems to be relaxed on the matter despite President Edgar Lungu having expressed concern on the continued alcohol abuse especially among the youth.

Mr. Ngulube tells Komboni radio news that some policy makers seem to have vested interest as most of them own or are linked to people who own bars.

Mr. Ngulube observed that the uncontrolled alcohol intake has the potential to hinder the country’s productivity.
