GOLDEN PEACOCK HOTEL WORKERS DOWN TOOLS DEMANDING FOR IMPROVED SALARIES

BY OSCAR NKUWA

Unionized workers at Lusaka’s Golden Peacock Hotel have downed tools demanding for a 10 percent salary increment across the board.

And the workers have vowed that they will not return to work until their demands are met.

Speaking in an interview with a Komboni Radio News crew that rushed to the hotel, the protesting workers complained that their low salaries have not been adjusted for over two years.

And the workers at the Chinese run hotel have also wondered why management has refused to sign an agreement made with the workers representatives for improved working conditions and other rights enshrined in the country’s labour laws.

And efforts to get a comment from the Hotels, Catering, Tourism and Allied Workers Union of Zambia failed by broadcast time.
