GEORGE RESIDENTS IN THE DARK OVER AID FROM DMMU

Residents of George Compound in Kizito area whose houses collapsed after a heavy down pour have bemoaned the delayed assistance from the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit DMMU.
Speaking on behalf of the affected residents Lima ward councilor Francis Bwalya has told Komboni news that the DMMU has not yet released the aid despite having conducted the assessments.
Councilor Bwalya says some of the affected residents have since put up makeshift shelters but that they need aid in form of food, beddings and tents.
The civic leader has since vowed to continue pushing the DMMU to respond to the needs of the victims.
Over two weeks ago, some families were left homeless in Kizito area of George compound after about 85 houses collapsed following a heavy downpour.
