FSUZ SADDENED BY CONTINUED DELAYS IN RELEASING EQUALIZATION FUNDS

BY KALALUKA MUSHAUKWA

The Fire Services Union of Zambia is saddened by the perpetual delay in releasing the equalization fund by government which has again pushed the councils into two months’ salary arrears.

Union Secretary General Clement Mulenga tells Komboni Radio News that the union believes the money is available but government has misplaced priorities.

Mr Mulenga says it is disheartening that government has continued to fund by-election when the public workers are in destitution.

He charged that it is regrettable that this trend has become what he termed as suffering ceremony which the government is allegedly enjoying to watch.

Mr Mulenga has since stated that the national executive of the union will therefore support any action of the suffering workers will take to express the oppression the government has put on them.
