Kamwala Ward Five Councillor Moses Bwalya tells Komboni Radio News that the council Police have so far managed to apprehend 5 people who were found dumping waste near the rail line in Kamwala area.

Mr Bwalya says the suspects have since been taken to the Fast Track Court at the civic centre where they are expected to appear soon.

The civic leader has since warned residents and some illegal Community Based Enterprises to desist from dumping waste near the rail line and the Bombay drainage as they risk being arrested.

Recently, the Lusaka City Council deployed council police officers in Kamwala at the request of the area councillor to curb the indiscriminate disposal of garbage in the community.

And Mr Bwalya disclosed that the indiscriminate dumping of garbage in Kamwala has drastically reduced following the deployment of council police officers.

The civic leader has expressed delight that a number of people have subscribed for garbage collection with Community Based Enterprises except for a few individuals.
