FAMILIES URGED TO CARE FOR THEIR OLD AND DISABLED RELATIVES

People living with disabilities and the aged at Chawama’s Divine providence home for the homeless and orphans have appealed to families to exercise love and care regardless of one’s physical status.

Margret Tembo who was abandoned by relatives after the death of her parents because of her physical condition says families must understand that old people and the disabled require love and attention from close relatives as well.

Ms Tembo has since called on members of the public not rush their old aged relatives and the physically challenged to hospices and orphanages but must start caring for them.

And Cheshire Divine Providence Home sister-in-charge Judith Bozek said a family set up remains the best place to take care of the aged, the disabled and orphans as love remains to be an important ingredient of one’s wellbeing.

Sister Judith has also disclosed that Cheshire Divine Providence Home currently accommodates an average of 20 aged people and 25 orphans.
