DELAYS TO COMPLETE TEMPORALLY MARKETS SADDENS CITY MARKET TRADERS

Traders at City Market have bemoaned delays to complete the construction of two temporary markets to enable them to carry out their business.

And the traders who lost their goods in the City Market fire have lamented that life has been difficult for their families after the ordeal.

In an interview with Komboni Radio News, Ms Jane Chansa complained that trading on the streets has been very challenging as people end up fighting for the limited space.

The traders have since appealed to government to allow them to trade from the other part of City market that was not gutted by fire.

And Vice President Inonge Wina says government is determined to complete the construction of two temporary markets to enable marketeers who lost their goods in the City Market fire, carry out their business.

Speaking when she toured the market yesterday, Mrs Wina however expressed disappointment at the rate at which works are moving at the two sites.

She urged relevant authorities to engage the marketeers and inform them on what has led to the delay in the construction of the temporary markets to avoid the marketeers getting frustrated.
