DELAYS TO CLEAR WASTE BINS PLACED IN VARIOUS BUS STOPS ANGER RESIDENTS

BY RUTH MUMBA

Residents of Kabwata Township have condemned the delayed collection of clearing of waste bins that have been placed in various Bus Stops along Chilimbulu road.

The residents have complained that the garbage that is piling in the bins doted at bus stops is posing danger to the health of commuters who seek shelter there while the wait for public transport.

The residents have since called upon the Lusaka City Council to ensure that the bins are emptied on time to prevent the outbreak of diseases.

Meanwhile, Kabwata ward 6 Councillor Longa Chiboboka has warned of stern action against unscrupulous residents who are secretly dumping their solid waste from their homes into skip bins that have been placed at Bus stops.

Mr Chiboboka explained that the bins that have been placed in bus stops are not meant for heavy garbage adding that anyone who will be found dumping heavy garbage in them risk being arrested.

The Civic leader has since appealed to the council to ensure that bins are cleared on time to avoid the overflow of garbage.
