Mervis Kumwenda, the four year-old-girl of Kasama’s Mulenga Hills area who was found dead on Saturday and believed to have been defiled before meeting her fate has been put to rest.

And speaking shortly after putting her to rest at Kungu Cemetery today, Northern Province Permanent Secretary, Jobbicks Kalumba has implored on the police to make sure that Mervis’s killer is brought to justice.

Dr Kalumba has also called on the Immigration Department to rise to the occasion by conducting door to door inspections of some suspected foreign nationals.

Meanwhile, the Human Rights Commission in Northern Province has condemned in the strongest term the gruesome killing of a four-year old girl of Mulenga Hills Township in Kasama.

Provincial Human Rights Coordinator Sydney Tembo condemn the horrific killing of the girl and called upon the Zambia Police to quickly investigate the murder and apprehend the person behind it so that the law can take its cause.

Mr. Tembo has since encouraged members of the public to report any forms of human rights violation to the commission.
