A couple has sustained serious wounds after being stabbed with a sharp instrument by an unknown assailant who found them having sex in a house located in Maseka village of Chavuma district in North-western province.
North-Western Commissioner of Police Hudson Namachila who confirmed the development said the attacker pounced on the couple on Monday around 20:55 hours.
Mr. Namachila said the victims, a ZESCO casual worker and a grade 12 pupil at Moses Luneta secondary, whose names have been withheld, sustained deep wounds and were found unconscious due to excessive bleeding.
He said the man was stabbed in the stomach forcing his intestines to hang out while the girl sustained deep cuts on her thigh and left knee.
Mr. Namachila added that the two were rushed to the hospital in an unstable condition.
Meanwhile, Chavuma District Health Director Meck Chongo says the sharp instrument used to stab the male victim left a cut on his liver but was quick to say that the duo are responding to medical treatment at Chavuma Mission Hospital where they are currently admitted.
Dr. Chongo said due to the nature of the wounds sustained the man would be hospitalized for about a month while the female would be discharged in a fortnight’s time.
