CHIPENZI URGES MPS TO SCRUTINIZE BILLS BEFORE VOTING

BY MONDE PHIRI
Governance activist McDonald Chipenzi has charged that government is most likely to push its agenda in parliament without so much scrutiny as most members of parliament are new and still need to learn how to debate effectively.
Mr. Chipenzi has told Komboni radio news in an interview that it is however important for the MPS to be on guard and ensure that every policy or bill that government tables before parliament is thoroughly scrutinized.
He says this will be the only sure way of ensuring that laws and policies that will be passed in parliament are in the interest of Zambians and not the ruling party.
Mr. Chipenzi has since urged MPS to use parliament to come up with progressive policies and laws that embrace the tenets of democracy.
