CHIPATA OVERSPILL RESIDENTS CALL FOR PIPED WATER

BY KALALUKA MUSHAUKWA
Residents of Lusaka’s Chipata overspill have called on the area councilor to facilitate for the installation of piped water in the area.
In an interview with Komboni radio news, Mrs Joyce Kabwe says there is need for the area councilor to ensure that the community is modernized through the installation of piped water.
She laments that residents are forced to wake up as early as 04 hours to fetch water from their neighbours who have sunk boreholes.
And Ms Martha Chibwe says the absence of piped water has proved to be costly as they have to buy the commodity for domestic use on a daily basis.
She also complained that residents especially women are spending much of their time fetching water at the expense of doing other productive activities.
And when contacted for a comment, Raphael Chota ward 22 councilor Joseph Tamba says he is aware of the water challenges being faced in Chipata overspill and assured residents that he has engaged other stakeholders to address the water challenges.
