Chilanga District Commissioner Edith Muwana has warned quarrying companies operating in the district to adhere to the countries labour laws.
Ms Muwana says her office has noted with concern that most quarrying companies operating in the district are disregarding the country’s labour laws.
The DC says it is the responsibility of the companies to ensure that workers are given the necessary protective clothing to protect them from injuries and contracting diseases such as Tuberculosis among others.
Ms Muwana has since warned that her office will be very tough on companies that will be found to be abrogating the country’s labour laws.
