CHALO BANTU RESIDENTS IN CHAZANGA COMPOUND BEMOAN THE POOR DRAINAGE SYSTEM

BY NELLY BOTA
Residents of Chazanga’s Chalo Bantu compound have bemoaned the poor drainage system in that area.
In an interview with Komboni radio news today, the residents have also complained of the indiscriminate disposal of waste which has also led to the clogging of the drainages.
One of the residents Bwalya Phiri has charged that the blocked drainages have been causing floods whenever there is a heavy downpour and called on the civic leaders in the area to initiate a proper waste management system.
And Amos Chanda charged that the stagnant water in the community is also posing as a health hazard as residents risk suffering from diarrhea diseases such as Cholera.
The residents have since reaffirmed calls for the office of the area councilor to improve the drainage system in the community.
