CASUAL WORKERS ENGAGED TO BURY SHALLOW WELLS PROTEST

Over 70 people who were engaged by the local authority to bury shallow wells in Cholera affected Communities in Lusaka have protested demanding to be paid allowances for the period they worked for.

The protesters who gathered at the Civic centre have disclosed to Komboni radio news that they were asked to stop work after they started demanding for their allowances.

The protesters who mostly included Women lamented that they have not been paid up to date despite earlier assurances that they will receive their allowances via E-Wallet.

And efforts to get a comment from the Lusaka City Council Public Relations Office failed by broadcast time.

The Lusaka city council had embarked on an exercise to bury wells following an outbreak of cholera.
