BOLIVIAN NATIONAL NABBED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Lusaka has arrested a 27 year old Bolivian national for trafficking in 2.1 Kg of Cocaine which was wrapped in condoms concealed in fifty five bottles of roll-on.

DEC Public Relations Officer Theresa Katongo who confirmed the development to Komboni Radio news has identified the suspect as Veizaga Arias Steven.

Ms Katongo said Veizaga was intercepted at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport upon arrival from Rio de Jeneiro via Angola aboard an Angolan Airlines flight.

Meanwhile, eleven people in Central Province have been arrested for unlawful cultivation and trafficking in Cannabis.

And the commission has also arrested four people for various drug related offences in an open operation which was conducted in Lusaka’s Chibolya compound.

DEC Public Relations Officer Theresa Katongo says those arrested include former Heavy Weight Boxer Joseph Chingangu 52, of Chilenje Township for trafficking in cannabis and Brian Kaputula, 29, a carpenter of Chibolya Township for trafficking in seven sachets of cocaine and heroin.

Ms Katongo said others arrested for trafficking in loose cannabis are Brian Kapisha, 24, of Zingalume Township and John Daka 24, a businessman of Chipata compound.
