Property worth thousands of Kwacha has been burnt to ashes after fire swept through Bible Society House and several other buildings, including some auto-spares shops, on Freedom way in the Central Business District.
A Komboni radio news crew that rushed to scene found scores of curious onlookers watching helplessly as a combined team of fire fighters from the Lusaka City Council and the Zambia Air Force were trying to put out the fire.
It is believed that the inferno started around 08 hours in the morning, and the Lusaka City Council fire brigade only arrived at the scene an hour later.
By press time, the cause of the fire was not yet known.
