The Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia (BETUZ) has distanced itself from the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU)’s position on the national health insurance bill.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka today, BETUZ spokesperson Kabika Kakunta says the bill will consolidate the public health insurance scheme which most of the teachers countrywide already joined.

Mr Kakunta stressed that the bill is one of the major positive moves government has undertaken to improve healthcare in the nation.

He has since encouraged members of the public to take keen interest in the bill and understand what it is all about.

However, the ZCTU has called for the withdrawal of the bill from parliament saying it does not mean well for the Zambian workers.
