The Zambia Association for Youth Suppliers and Contractors has appealed to government to ensure that their members also benefit from the 20 percent sub-contracting policy allocated to local contractors.

In an interview with Komboni Radio News, association Publicity Secretary Ibrahim Mwamba says in as much as the association welcome government’s directive to foreign contractors to adhere to the 20 percent sub contracting policy, there is need for government to ensure that youth contractors also benefit from this policy.

Mr Mwamba has suggested that government should further ensure that young people are given at least 5 percent sub contraction policy from the various projects government is implementing across the country.

He notes that this is the only way young contractors will gain the experience to carry out major projects in the country.
