Residents of Mazabuka’s Apollo compound have cried foul over the uncollected garbage in that area.

Joe Mulembo has complained to Komboni Radio News that the local authority has not collected garbage for over three months now despite residents having paid for garbage collection.

Mr. Mulembo has described the situation as a health hazard especially to children who have a habit of picking up things from the garbage that has piled up.

The residents have since pleaded with the council to clear the garbage to avoid the cholera outbreak and other waterborne diseases.

And when contacted for a comment, Mazabuka Central councilor Chrispine Hamangaba attributed the delay to collect the garbage to a council vehicle that had broken down.

Mr. Hamangaba however stated that the council has already started collecting garbage in the area and have extended the exercise to other communities.
