ANTONIO MWANZA CONDEMNS SUSPENSION OF UNION ACTIVITIES AT UNZA

The suspension of union activities at the University of Zambia has continued to receive condemnation from a cross section of members of the public.

Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) spokesperson Antonio Mwanza has charged that the decision by government to suspend union operations at UNZA is counterproductive and not a solution to the current situation at the country’s highest learning institution.

In an interview with Komboni radio news Mr. Mwanza says the students union plays a vital role adding that the decision to suspend union activities will bring instability as there will be no one to provide leadership at the university.

Mr Mwanza, who is also former UNZASU President, has since advised government to reconsider its decision and concentrate on the causes of the riots and address issues that have been raised by students.
