ANC CONDEMNS BREAK-IN AT OFFICE OF THE CHIEF JUSTICE

Police have launched a high-level investigation of the burglary at the Office of the Chief Justice.

The multidisciplinary team is led by Gauteng’s deputy commissioner for crime detection, Major-General Mary Motsepe.
ENCA reports that thieves made off with 15 computers after breaking into the office’s human resources department.
The computers contained the personal information of 250 judges.
Meanwhile, the ANC has condemned the break-in at the offices of the Chief Justice in Midrand in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The governing party has described the burglary as cowardly.
It said this is not a random event and it is a direct attack on the judiciary and on South African democracy.
The ANC has since urged law enforcement officers to speed up the investigation to bring the perpetrators to book.
