The Ministry of health has confirmed that a total of 69 cases of Typhoid have been recorded in Mpika District in Muchinga province since 3rd May, 2017.

In an a telephone interview with komboni radio news, ministry spokesperson Dr. Kennedy  Malama said the cases are coming from a compound called shangai and Other surrounding areas.

Dr. Malama said that on Wednesday four more patients who were terminally ill were treated at Michael Chilufya Sata hospital and are said to be in a stable condition and responding well to treatment.

He added the investigations have revealed that the cause of the typhoid outbreak is due to contaminated water being consumed in Shangai compound.
