A 36-year old man has died after he fell off his bicycle into the Lukupa River in Kasama.
Justine Silwamba is suspected to have been riding along the path at the side of the River when he fell into the river on Friday night around 21:00 hours.
Elder brother to the deceased Sunday Silwamba disclosed that his brother met his fate when he was coming from a drinking spree.
And Joseph Mwamba a resident of Chafwa village who was fishing on the river when the incident happened had this to say.
The deceased is survived by a wife and four children.
Meanwhile, residents in the area have expressed displeasure with the seemingly delay by the Zambia Police to respond to the call.
The residents lamented that despite being informed early on the matter, the police took long to arrive at the scene to pick-up the body of the deceased.
They have since appealed to the police to act swiftly in such matters.
By press time the residents had retrieved the body of the deceased from the river as they wait the police arrival.
