A 29 year old man of Lusaka’s Kanyama compound and his neighbour are nursing wounds after they were shot at by criminals.
The incident is said to have happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning around 02 hours in Kanyama compound.
Police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo who confirmed the incident explained that on 4th July, 2018 at about 0200 hours, three criminals armed with a pistol and an axe broke into a house of Brian Himweene aged 29 of Kanyama compound where they forced open the door to the house and robbed the occupants’ cash amounting to K2000.
Mrs Katongo says after hearing noise outside, one of the neighbors identified as Anthony Chiluba went to the rescue of the victim and managed to hack one of the criminals in the head using an axe.
She says this prompted the criminal who was armed with a pistol to fire at Anthony Chiluba (neighbor) and also shot the owner of the house Brian Himweene on the left arm.
The criminals managed to escape while the two victims were rushed to UTH by other neighbors.
Mrs Katongo has since urged members of the public to report to police any suspected person with a cut on the head.
