A 26 year old woman of Lusaka’s George compound yesterday committed suicide by taking a poisonous insecticide following a marital dispute.
According to family members, the woman who has been identified as Esther Banda is believed to have consumed doom which mixed with Super Shake after an argument with her husband.
The relatives disclosed to a Komboni news crew that rushed to the scene that the woman in question was pronounced dead at the University Teaching Hospital-UTH where she was rushed for treatment after consuming the poisonous substance.
The deceased is survived two children and a husband.
Meanwhile, some women in George Compound who expressed sadness over the development have charged that over dependency on men has forced some women to commit suicide when they differ with their spouses.
The women have since appealed to the area councilor to facilitate for empowerment programmes for women in the community so that they become self-reliant.
