Police in Lusaka yesterday picked a body of a 35 year old woman of Kasupe area in Zingalume’s Muchinga grounds.
Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo who has confirmed the incident to Komboni radio news, said the deceased is suspected to have been strangled after being raped.
Mrs. Katongo said the deceased was discovered by members of public on Sunday morning who later alerted the police adding that the victim has since been identified by her relatives.
The body has been deposited in the UTH mortuary and investigations in the matter have since been instituted.
Meanwhile a police officer of Lusaka’s Lumumba police post died while six others sustained injuries in an accident which happened yesterday on the Mongu-Kalabo Road at Nalwei area.
Mrs. Katongo has identified the deceased officer as Sergeant Tamption Chibubu aged 41.
She explained that the accident happened when a motor vehicle a land cruiser Prado registration number AJD 2470 which was being driven by Roy Siansobani aged 43 overturned due to tyre burst.
The body of the deceased is in Lewanika District Hospital awaiting postmortem while the other 6 injured victims are also admitted to the same hospital.
