A 15 year old boy of Maunda village in chief Chikwa’s chiefdom in Chama District of Muchinga province has survived a crocodile attack in the Luangwa River.

The victim identified as Jeremiah Mwale met his fate when he went fishing in the Luangwa River in the company of his three other friends.

A close relative to the victim identified as Gift Ngulube disclosed that the incident happened around 23hours on Sunday when the four went to check the nets they left in the river.

Ms Ngulube narrated that the incident happened when the four attempted to cross the river to the other side when the crocodile pounced on the victim holding him by the stomach.

She explained that the victim was rescued by his friends who wrestled with the crocodile until the beast was defeated.

Ms Ngulube further explained that after the victim was rescued from the crocodile, he was rushed to Mangwere Rural Health Centre where he was referred to Chama District Hospital.

And health personnel at the hospital disclosed that the victim sustained serious wounds with a broken left leg adding that his condition is stable.

The victim is today 25th September 2019 expected to be evacuated to Chipata general hospital for specialized treatment.
